New Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios Content Coming to Disney+

The Walt Disney Company has been announcing plenty of exciting news during their Investor’s Day livestream today. Among their announcements, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar have confirmed several new shows and movies coming in the near future.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Series
  • “Baymax” (2022)
    • The first Walt Disney Animation Studios series. It will take place in the world of Big Hero 6 in San Fransokyo.
  • “Zootopia” (2022)
    • This will be a mini series featuring the minor characters from Zootopia.
  • “Tiana” (2023)
    • The first new wave of Disney Princess TV shows, this series will contain stories continuing from The Princess and the Frog.
  • “Moana” (2023)
    • Like “Tiana,” this is another Disney Princess TV show taking place after the events of Moana.

All of these series will be streaming on Disney+.

Walt Disney Animation Studios Movies
  • “Iwaju” (2022)
    • Walt Disney Animation Studios is teaming up with Kugali, an African-based animation studio to create this film.
  • “Enanto” (fall 2021)
    • Following Raya and the Last Dragon, this next Walt Disney Animation Studios film will take place in Colombia. Music will composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Kugali will stream on Disney+, while Encanto will release in theaters.

Pixar Series
  • “Popcorn” (January 2021)
    • A series of short stories of classic Pixar characters like Dory, Buzz Lightyear and more.
  • “Dug Days” (fall 2021)
    • A series featuring, Dug, from the Pixar movie Up.
  • “Cars” (fall 2022)
    • A series based off of the Pixar film series, Cars.
  • “Win or Lose” (2023)
    • An original story for Disney+.

All of these series will be available to stream on Disney+.

Pixar Movies
  • “Soul” (December 25, 2020)
    • This is the only Pixar movie of the following set to release on Disney+.
  • “Luca” (June 2021)
    • The first Pixar movie taking place in Italy.
  • “Turning Red” (spring 2022)
    • From director Domi Shee of the Pixar shortfilm, Bao, this movie is about a girl who turns into a red panda.
  • “Lightyear” (summer 2022)
    • The movie from Toy Story in which Buzz Lightyear is based off of. Chris Evans is set to voice the main character.

All of these movies are set to release in theaters.
